Nate Dee Mural at Pinnacle at La Cabaña, Miramar, FL
For Pinnacle Housing Group's La Cabaña—an income-restricted independent living community for seniors 62 and older in Broward County—I curated and managed a permanent, multi-story mural by Miami artist Nate Dee. "Where We Bloomed" renders a vivid South Florida ecosystem across the building's full height: a roseate spoonbill in flight, a hummingbird, monarchs, dragonflies, and a tree frog moving among hibiscus, plumeria, heliconia, and broad tropical foliage. The title speaks to growth, resilience, and the lives residents continue to cultivate—rooting that idea in the native flora and fauna of the place they call home.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Selected an artist whose nature-forward style fit the community's identity and gave the development a distinct sense of place
Managed all aspects: artist contract, concept development, design approvals, site coordination, and installation
Translated the building's full exterior wall into a large-scale, site-specific composition
Delivered the completed commission in February 2026
IMPACT:
Gave residents a vibrant, welcoming landmark unique to their community
Strengthened the development's visual identity and curb presence in Miramar
Demonstrated how public art can enrich affordable and senior housing, not just market-rate or commercial development
