Celebrating Culture Through Art: Windows to Our World at Miramar Cultural Center

Since 2020, I have curated the annual Windows to Our World mural series at the Miramar Cultural Center, a program that activates the building’s cathedral-like architectural indentations as “windows” into cultural themes. Each year, the murals align with the Center’s programming, highlighting subjects such as Hispanic Heritage, Black History, Caribbean Heritage, and environmental awareness.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Designed a recurring mural program that reflects Miramar’s diverse cultural heritage
Curated themes that align with the Miramar Cultural Center’s gallery programming
Brought in regional and local artists to interpret cultural narratives through contemporary mural art
Created site-specific works that integrate with the building’s distinctive architecture
IMPACT:
Enhanced the Miramar Cultural Center’s role as a cultural hub for South Florida
Offered audiences an accessible, visual entry point into the Center’s educational and cultural programming
Strengthened community pride by highlighting diverse cultural identities through public art
Established Windows to Our World as a signature recurring program at Miramar Cultural Center
